The Foundation gave £10,000 in November 2016 towards the creation of the charity’s third garden at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital for the benefit of patients and their families. In June 2019, the Foundation further supported Horatio’s Garden with a grant of £30,000 towards the garden planned for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, London.
At the Stoke Mandeville garden, there are secluded areas for patients to be on their own or with their visitors; a large communal space which hosts activities; a garden room for use during the winter months and a specially designed greenhouse for patients to help grow new plants. Horatio’s Garden specialises in creating and maintaining beautiful, therapeutic gardens in NHS spinal injuries centres across the UK which give patients and their families a retreat and respite from their long hospital stays.
