In December 2017, the Foundation gave £5,000 towards the creation of a new playground to be used by pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties at this small, specialist academy school.
Peak Special School is based in the north west corner of Derbyshire and the age of its pupils ranges from nursery through to young adults aged 19. The school had two playground spaces which were empty, fenced areas with no permanent play equipment. Its new play area now has a sensory garden; a wheelchair accessible roundabout; two basket swings, a bubble machine and water feature as well as audio equipment and specially grown plants and herbs. This provides a year round sensory and physical space that can be enjoyed by all of its pupils.
